art-jonesIt is with heavy hearts the family wishes to announce that Arthur (Art) Everett Jones of Hoyt passed away on November 2, 2016 at Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 88. Art was born in Wirral, NB, on April 30, 1928 and was the son of the late Violet Frances (Kirkpatrick) and Frank R. Jones.

Art was a carpenter by trade and was always busy building, repairing or maintaining. He retired from Base Gagetown as Forman Supervisor, PMQ Service Center. Art felt it was not only important to take care of his family but also the community they lived in.


A member of the Patterson United Church, Mens Club,  founding member of Patterson Settlement Historical Society, Caretaker of the Patterson United Church Cemetery, Hoyt Pioneer Cemetery and Past Master, Masonic Order Lodge # 32 F & AM and the Star of Boyne, Orange Lodge.

Arthur is survived by his wife Maxine (Mersereau), daughters: Louann (Avery) Brawn, Ruth (John) Richardson,  Debbie (Tim) Bigger, sister Pauline Shanks, brothers: Robert (Alvina) , Keith (Esther), five grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, three step grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Art is predeceased by his parents Violet and Frank Jones, sisters; Frances and Lois, brothers; Lloyd and Murray.

Visitation will be held at Sunbury Funeral Home in Central Blissville NB on Sunday November 6 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. The funeral will be on Monday November 7, 2016 at 11am at Patterson United Church, with Rev. Susan Gamblin officiating. Interment will be in the Patterson United Church Cemetery.
