  Gordon Armstrong Memorial Scholarships

The NBAAC has a scholarship program, which awards successful applicants a one-time extended learning scholarship.  This is available to members, their children or grandchildren; however, the member, parents, or grandparents must have a membership in good standing at the time of application.  The amount of the scholarship is determined each year at a provincial meeting.   The following items must accompany the completed application form:

  • an official record of the year's marks,

  • a letter and/or recommendation from a teacher, guidance councillor, clergy, or employer; the letter can not be from family member or relative,

  • a one-page resume, which includes your accomplishments in academic, sports, arts, etc., participation in youth groups, work experience, future plans and other pertinent information, and

  • a copy of the letter of acceptance from an accredited institution.

Scholarship cheques will be made payable to the institute and the scholarship recipient.

2007 Scholarships

For the second year in a row, the Scholarship Committee received a total of nineteen applications for the Gordon Armstrong Memorial Scholarships, which again made the selection process for 2007 an especially challenging one.  All candidates were outstanding individuals with justifiably proud parents or grandparents as members of the NB Antique Auto Club.  The selected recipients for the 2007 Scholarships are:

  1. Julie Belliveau of Moncton, the granddaughter of Laurie Belliveau (SE), will be entering her first year at the Universitié de Moncton in the Faculty of Science, in Pre-Med.

  2. Jordon Briggs of Plaster Rock, grandson of Camber and Theresa Giberson (NW), will be attending Carleton University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering.

  3. Joel Lapointe of Dundee is the son of Roger and Therese Lapointe (NE) and will be enrolled at the Universitié de Moncton in the Faculty of Engineering.

  4. Erin McWilliam of Riverview is the granddaughter of Ronald and Audrey McWilliam (SE), and is pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce Degree at Dalhousie University.

  5. Kendra Nadj of Summerville is the granddaughter of Vernon and Louise Scott (F), and will be entering her first year at the University of New Brunswick (Saint John campus) pursuing a Degree in Arts/Education.

Each of these individuals has received a cheque from the NB Antique Auto Club in the amount of $1,000 to assist with the costs of higher education.  The cheques are issued jointly to the individual and the school they will be attending.

To the recipients, congratulations to each of you on your achievements, and please accept the best wishes of the members of the NB Antique Auto Club as you pursue your higher education.
